The ‘extremely vulnerable’ register

Register via the link below if you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable to Coronavirus, and you will, for example, be able to ask for help getting deliveries of essential supplies like food. If you’re not sure whether your medical condition makes you extremely vulnerable, register anyway.

This service is free. You can register yourself, or for someone else. You can also contact them via 0800 028 8327

You can access help from the national NHS Responder service, who will be able to put you in touch with a local volunteer

Hampshire County Council has launched a Coronavirus Hampshire Helpline – Hantshelp4vulnerable - for frail or vulnerable residents who do not have existing support networks and require urgent assistance. Depending on need, residents may be directed to one of eleven district based Local Response Centres, or to the County Council’s specialist support team. The helpline can be contacted on 0333 370 4000 and is available seven days a week, from 9am-5pm. More information is set out on the helping Hampshire residents most in need webpage.

Within the local area, Community First is co-ordinating volunteers who will make sure vulnerable residents are contacted and have what they need through this time. If you are worried about how you’ll cope during the crisis, or if you have a relative who is vulnerable, please contact Community First on:

Central government provides council tax support to those on a low income and with savings less than £16,000, and this will be additionally supplemented by up to a maximum of £150 for the coming year as a result of coronavirus. To  Find out how to apply for council tax support.

Alton Churches - for help with basic food deliveries, a friendly phone call or urgent supplies:     

Alton Foodbank has temporarily closed its Market Square premises and is moving to delivery of food parcels. Foodbank will be delivering parcels to people referred by local agencies. Parcels will be delivered by local businesses, Gorilla Spirits and Cutting Edge Media, who are donating time and vans to deliver food. Contact:  07773 034447  

Alton Mutual Aid   0800 066 3697 (or 07466 304501) They can help with shopping, prescriptions, posting letters, and also have a team of volunteers to help transport people to medical appointments
