After its successful launch in April last year, Damian has announced he will host a second New Directions event in Alton on Friday 26th October 2018.
With more than 50 exhibitors attending previously, the free one-day event will once again bring together a wide range of employment, training and volunteering opportunities for the over 50s, with a number of talks and workshops running alongside the main exhibition.
Damian said:
“I’m delighted to be hosting New Directions once again. Last year’s event attracted a fantastic mix of local employers, training organisations and charities, offering a wide range of opportunities for older workers looking for jobs, new skills or simply a chance to use their time voluntarily.
“Figures announced this week show that employment continues do well nationally, with an employment rate of 75.6% and more people in work than ever before, but there are still older workers keen to use and develop their skills and experience. With the rate of unemployment now as low as 4.2%, it’s important that we help employers recruit the talent they need from parts of the workforce they may not have considered before.”
Supported by both East Hampshire District Council and Hampshire County Council, the event is free for exhibitors and visitors to attend. All organisations that would like to exhibit, are asked to reserve a stand by contacting Amanda Gallagher at amanda.gallagher@parliament.uk or on 07400927344.
More details on guest speakers, workshops and how visitors can book free entrance tickets will be published over the coming weeks.
