Damian was honoured to join East Hampshire Citizens’ Advice today to celebrate the 80th birthday of Citizens Advice, and was pleased to have the opportunity to thank the volunteers, trustees and staff for the invaluable work done locally by them all.
As part of the 'Give a Day to Policing' initiative, Damian spent a shift with the East Hampshire Response & Patrol team this afternoon and evening. This was a great opportunity to see and hear about some of the huge variety of vital work that the police do locally.
Damian was invited to meet with members of the Petersfield WI tonight to discuss climate change and to talk about the action being taken by the government in this area. Other local groups such as Plastic Free Petersfield, together with some local schools were also represented.
Damian thanked Scott Monks for inviting him to visit Rocksteady Music School at their Liphook HQ, and for the opportunity to hear about the work they do to introduce young peope to playing in rock bands.
An interesting visit for Damian today at the South Central Ambulance Service operational centre in Winchester. The team are responsible for 999, 111 and other key transport services in the region, all of which are so important for a rural area such as East Hampshire.
Damian was delighted to visit the Petersfield branch of the Salvation Army today for the launch of their Employment Plus, and was interested to hear more about how the Salvation Army has been helping people into work since opening their first Labour Exchange in 1890.
