Employment numbers continue to break records

Damian welcomes the latest ONS employment numbers that show a record 31.77 million people are now in work - an increase of 2.7 million since 2010 – with the unemployment rate holding at 4.9 per cent; the lowest rate for over a decade.

Damian had a good and useful discussion with representatives of the local NFU, considering the outlook for farming and hopes for the sector post Brexit on trade, agricultural policy and labour supply.

Catching up with Energy Alton

Visit to Eggar's School

Damian paid a visit to Eggar's School in Holybourne last week and was shown around by Head Teacher Mr Sullivan.

TAG start new consultation on revised flightpath

Although the CAA has yet to make a final decision, TAG is now holding a further consultation on an amended part of their Airspace Change Proposal (ACP), which makes changes to a flightpath across the South Downs National Park, over Midhurst and Milland and up above Liphook.

Record-breaking levels of inward investment

Damian comments on the recently published numbers for foreign direct investment in the UK, with Britain benefiting from record-breaking levels in the last year, with a total of 2,213 projects secured across the country, creating or safeguarding around 116,000 jobs as a result - the second highest
